                                        Why did you choose this course for FYS?         
                                 
                                
      I chose this FYS for a few different reasons. The first would be because not only am I a Disney lover, but my whole family is. The Disney stories, while often times very silly and not accurate representations of anything that would ever actually happen, are fun stories that are great for kids and adults alike. This would be because of the magic that can be found within them, making it different than the everyday world we live in. The second reason I chose this course is because I have also always had a love for The Grimm Brothers and the stories that they have written about. Maybe they don’t have the same endings that the Disney stories have, but they too have a sense of mystery and magic. Chickens and wolves talk, and there are objects that do things normal objects could never do. 


                  What are you hoping to accomplish in the seminar? 


            By the end of the seminar I hope to have learned even more about both The Brothers Grimm, and of the Disney stories. Also, to learn more about different and hidden symbols that can be found in already known stories.

                                                What is your favorite fairytale and why?


                  My favorite fairytale would probably be Beauty and the Beast. Not only am I a big fan of the Disney movie (1991), but the story that is being told is one of meaning. It is showing how quick everyone is to make assumptions and judge people, even before they know them. Its showing that if you actually take the time to get to know a person, you could end up really liking them and becoming true friends.

                                                      Hansel and Gretel             The Brothers Grimm collected a fairytale called Hansel and Gretel, and it told of two children that, after some unfortunate events, got encaptured by a witch.
