Analyzing Snow White

~Snow White~             Brothers Grimm vs. Disney             Snow White was the movie that Walt Disney became known for. It was the start of his career, but did he stick with the Brothers Grimm version that he was supposedly basing this movie on? The answer would be, sort of. They do contain similarities, however, there are differences between the two stories being told.             Walt Disney was just beginning his career when he released his animated Snow White movie in 1937, so it makes sense he switched up a few things. He was smart and took a story that people would recognize but made it his own. He did this so people would be able to see that he was not just simply repeating a well-known story, but he was showing he has a great imagination that can help create a slightly new but familiar story. Walt kept the main characters that the Brothers Grimm wrote about such as Snow White, the Evil Queen, dwarves, and the huntsman. But he gave the dw

From Rags to Riches

From Rags to Riches             The saying from rags to riches originated from the classic story, Cinderella. Where the poor and lonely girl turns into the bride of the prince. She goes from her literal rags, to becoming the wife of the richest man around. But nowadays, could that happen? Cinderella’s story was filled with magic and her wealth was the result of a marriage, but is that a realistic thing that could happen today?             Realistically, no. There are the rare occasions that people will marry wealthy people, and thus they themselves will become very wealthy. We most commonly see this with celebrities, and not really with princes considering America does not have princes and princesses. Prince Harry from the UK did marry someone that wasn’t necessarily a princess, so she definitely gained riches by marriage. But in America, the equiva

Analyzing and Defining Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty         Sleeping Beauty is a well-known and classic fairytale. The story of how a young maiden was cursed to prick her finger on a spinning wheel on her sixteenth birthday, is one that most young girls could easily tell you today.  Most famously, Disney has released an animated version of this story in 1959, and it has remained famous to this day. But have you ever wondered if there was more to the story?          In 1812 the Brothers Grimm put together some of the stories that they had collected over a small course of time. One of these stories the collected, was Briar Rose. The Disney version of Sleeping Beauty is most closely correlated to the Brothers Grimm version of the story. The maidens name is Briar Rose, and in the movie, they call her both Briar Rose, and simply Rose. The way that Briar Rose was cursed was similar, for the “evil” fairy cursed her to

Analyzing "Brothers Grimm"

Image
Versus  We all know about the Brothers Grimm, due to the legacy they left behind. The books and stories are ones that we have known by heart since childhood. With that being said, there is no surprise that Hollywood took it upon themselves to interpret their own version of the Grimm Brothers. This version would be found in their movie “Brothers Grimm” which isn’t the most accurate account of Jacob and Wilhelm’s life. It was twisted in a way that Hollywood thought would appeal to their audience more than just giving out the real facts.      One major way that the movie is different than the real life of Jacob and Wilhelm would be how there was a very big love triangle between the brothers and a woman named Angelica. That was a big focal point in the movie and it has no historical evidence that says it ever happened.                Another way would be how the brothers are portrayed as con artists and magicians, and that is how they collected
