Analyzing "Brothers Grimm"

   
              Versus 



We all know about the Brothers Grimm, due to the legacy they left behind. The books and stories are ones that we have known by heart since childhood. With that being said, there is no surprise that Hollywood took it upon themselves to interpret their own version of the Grimm Brothers. This version would be found in their movie “Brothers Grimm” which isn’t the most accurate account of Jacob and Wilhelm’s life. It was twisted in a way that Hollywood thought would appeal to their audience more than just giving out the real facts.

     One major way that the movie is different than the real life of Jacob and Wilhelm would be how there was a very big love triangle between the brothers and a woman named Angelica. That was a big focal point in the movie and it has no historical evidence that says it ever happened.  

    
        Another way would be how the brothers are portrayed as con artists and magicians, and that is how they collected stories. This is very inaccurate, for the brothers collected their stories only verbally. They themselves didn’t ever do anything to impact the stories they were told. They would have people come to them and tell them stories that they have either heard, or have been told by their mothers or grandmothers. 



      Lastly, an extra thing that was put into the movie that was fictional rather than fact would be how the brothers were shown as partiers. The brothers were known for their studiousness, and rarely, if ever, went out and would party. They had a set mission, and would not waver from it quickly. This proved a good thing too! For now their stories are well known, and have continued to be told and spoken about long after them.

                                                      Hansel and Gretel             The Brothers Grimm collected a fairytale called Hansel and Gretel, and it told of two children that, after some unfortunate events, got encaptured by a witch. They then had to use their wit and quick thinking to escape, and then live happily ever after.              In 1987 there was a movie made on Hansel and Gretel and the producers actually did a pretty good job on getting most of the main ideas correct. They gave the mother direct quotes from the original story, and she is still annoying and cruel even though they never specifically said she was a stepmother. In the movie the witch is also pretty blind, and she gets cooked in the oven as well.               ...
